Day 1: Welcome to The Bakery! Your job is Cake Status. When a customer comes in to see if their cake is ready, you walk over to the oven, turn on the oven light, look inside, and let them know if the cake is done or not. You’ve been trained for a week on how to do this. Are you ready? Ok, begin!

Day 2: You look stressed. What’s wrong? Oh, customers have been asking questions you can’t answer? Like what? How many calories are in the cake? Are their bagels done? Can you make their cake bake faster? Well, just direct them to the correct departments. Oh. The other departments are sending them back to you. Well, get their phone numbers and tell them we’ll call them back.

Day 4: Please stop sending customers to the other departments, they are very busy and…you can’t answer their questions? Well use your materials. A bagel and a cake both look brown when they’re done…a baked good is a baked good. Just don’t tell them incorrect information or we’ll make a note in your file. Extra training? Resources? We’ll have to see. Just get back to the ovens.

Day 9: Starting today, we’ll be sending down cake orders and decoration requests to you. People will tell you what kind of cake and doughnuts they want, and what they want lettered on their frosting. What? Where are you supposed to send the request? Take care of it yourself. No, we don’t care that you aren’t cake decorators and you don’t know how to make a doughnut. And it doesn’t matter that you can’t even open the oven doors. Do your job.
