There are plenty of Twitter "widgets" all over the place. For example, I have something called TwitterGadget that feeds twitter right to my Gmail account.

Anything with a lot of media coverage (like Twitter) is almost guaranteed to be blocked eventually. I'm waiting for them to do it here, frankly, though given that Facebook's not blocked here it may be a while. It is a bit of a pain, though, considering we use Twitter as an impromptu social planning broadcast system. ._.;;;

Speaking of which, what's your ride situation looking like? I'm getting out of here at 4:30, so I should be able to swing by your job around 5 if traffic is as good this evening as it was this morning.
