Y'know what really grinds my gears? When I go out of my way to help someone find doctors in their area, and they say dumb shit like "Don't you have any AMERICAN doctors in your network?"
That gets on my nerves so much. And it never comes up when I bring up the Rubinskis, the Costellos, or even the Yins...it's when I mention the Rodreguez, the Akhibes, the Punjiads that all of a fucking sudden they get picky. I get this sort of thing disturbingly often, and when it happened for the NINTH time today I snapped a little.
"The closest doctor to you is Dr. Mohammad Jarvandi...sir...sir he *IS* American...J-A-R-V-A-N-D-I...yes first name Mohammad...sir, just because his last name isn't 'Smith' doesn't mean he isn't American. He graduated from Ross University in Winconsion, and had residency in Virginia and New York. He also accepts our HMO and is seeing new paitients, and if you have a problem with him or people like him then you are limiting your choices down to about three providers in your area. Now would you like his number sir?"
Grr. Just fricking grrr.
In a more pleasant update, happy first of October! October is bringing many things, including my first trip to the West, planning for this year's Nanowrimo (which, if I don't finish this year I think is a sign that I was never meant to be a writer. Insert dramatic hand to forehead motion here.), Tina's birthday, and Halloween! Yay! Ack. I need to buy new shoes, a jacket, a pair of pants and some sweaters. Thrift store here I come.
Edit: So I read a post about Robert Jordan dying, which makes me a bit remorseful but then, I wasn't a "Wheel of Time" series fan. But at the bottom of the article about him, I see a link announcing the death of L'Engle, the woman behind 'Wrinkle in Time' and its subsequent sequels. I devoured those books as a child, the words and characters sparked my imagination and held me captive for hours. They also got me in trouble many times with the nuns at my school, as I would try to sneak read them during math class. I want to pick them up again now. I'm sorry that I never did write that fan letter...::sigh::
