Aww hell. I’m getting sucked into Prince of Tennis. Never thought I’d see that day. Not that I had anything against it, mind you. It just sort of…existed on the periphery of my vision. But a certain *someone* got me in through the backdoor…um…no pun intended.
It has a lot of the things I really enjoy. Well developed and *interesting* characters, a healthy dose of angst as well as humor, and the ability to use fan-service well without going completely overboard. Oh, and the pretty boys are a plus. I find, sadly, that there is one obstacle to my embracing this new fandom whole-heartedly. It was the same problem I had with the Anita Blake series, as well as a few other series I’ve tried to pick up over time.
I cannot stand the main character. Echizen rubbed me the wrong way from the first few minutes of Episode 1. I tried, heaven knows I did, but he is such a rotten arrogant little asshole that I want to beat him with a tennis racket. And what’s sad is that all of the other characters are such a joy to watch. Perhaps I’ll just dally in the fandom, picking out side story lines and enjoying what I can. Sort of like picking a yucky topping off of an overloaded slice of pizza.
Going out with Mom today to show her what might potentially be our new apartment. I so hope we get it. Oh the things I could do with that kitchen! I haven’t been this excited to move anywhere since Tina and I got our *first* place. Afterward we look at the model, we're going to Bonefish Grille. ::drool::
